¡Hola amigos! On día 77 three friends and I flew out to Geneva, Switzerland. Our plane was delayed for over an hour, but thankfully I was randomly placed next to one of my friends on the plane.
When we landed we dropped off our luggage at the hostel and went out for food. We walked towards the middle of the city and found an açaí bowl shop called Melrose Kitchen. The workers were so kind and gave us some recommendations.
The weather was really cloudy and said it would rain all day, but we had no plans on wasting the day. We started by walking to the flower clock. It was cool to see a moving clock made of real flowers. We could see the Jet D’eau from the clock so we made our way over to that next. We visited Geneva’s old town where we saw St. Pierre’s Cathedral. We stopped for a coffee break in the old town and the worker was so nice he gave great recommendations and gave us some free pastries because we sat there for so long.
After our break we saw the opera house then got a bus to the broken chair and the United Nations building. It was pouring rain at this point so we were soaking wet. After being out all day we decided to do a quick trip back to the hostel to figure out where to eat dinner. We ended up walking all over town trying to find dinner because Switzerland is astronomically expensive. We ended at a place called Shiso Burger and it was delicious because we were starving.
On día 78 my two friends went to Interlaken, but my other friend and I wanted to visit somewhere closer. We decided that morning to go to Annecy, France and headed off that way. We went to the train station and hopped on the train to Annecy. The train ride was beautiful! We saw mountains, valleys, and prairies with cows everywhere. Right as we crossed into France, workers came around to check tickets and we thought we had the right tickets, but we’re mistaken. We had to pay 50€ instead of 15€, but it was a beautiful ride so we weren’t too crushed.
Right when we got into the city we noticed there was a market lining both sides of the street. We stopped at a few and I bought a ring for 5€ from one of the vendors. We planned ahead and brought lunch and ate it on a park bench with blue water and mountains as our view.
We walked around more shops and saw 2 different castles. We stopped for an aperol spritz at a local pub and chatted for a while. It was nice to people watch and take in Annecy slowly. Our phones were both running low and we had bus tickets on our phones so we really had a technology free day trying to preserve the battery. Before we left, we stopped for burgers and fries because we had no intention to pay Switzerland’s prices again. We walked to the bus and headed back to Geneva.
On día 79 we woke up and ate breakfast at the hostel because it was free with our stay. We headed to the airport and back to Barcelona.
Fue genial visitar Ginebra, ¡pero Annecy fue hermosa! Quiero visitar más pueblos pequeños en Francia.
