Quotes
~Life is a mirror of your consistent thoughts~
Your life is as good as you perceive it. You can have plenty of things go wrong in your life, but if you turn them to have some kind of positive return then life doesn’t seem so bad. Life is all about perspective. We’re only here once, so focus on all the beautiful things life has to offer.
~Invest in yourself~
You are with yourself 100% of the time. Don’t you want to enjoy the person you’re with all the time? Invest in yourself – self care, mental & physical health, strong relationships and so much more. Love yourself now and love the person you’re becoming as you grow and change.
~What’s the best that could happen?~
It’s common to think – what if something terrible happens – if you try something new. It’s easy to see how we can make a fool of ourselves or fail. But have you ever asked – what if it all works out? If you have a big goal or idea in mind, don’t let it scare you. You only live once, so why wait for the perfect time to try something?!
~Enjoy moments before they become memories~
Life is one crazy ride. You have a million things on your plate and when you get the chance to relax it can be difficult. Your brain spins with all your tasks and things you must remember. When you get the chance to relax, make the extra effort to just be present with no other thoughts. Those moments become memories.
~Your only limit is you~
It’s easy to have excuses. People or things get in the way of reaching your goals all the time – that’s life. It matters how to deal with that obstacle and move on towards your goal. You’re not competing with anyone but yourself, so create a plan and stick to it.
~Live in the moment~
I often struggle finding balance between having discipline and living in the moment. I want to reach certain goals, so I set myself up for success by waking up earlier, staying up later, or giving up time in my day. This shouldn’t be your whole life though. You should be live in the moment and enjoy life because you’re only here once. This is the main reason I started Building Balance because there are so many people who struggle to find this balance just like me. You can reach your goals if you plan out your schedule and make time but never forget to live in the present moment!
~Don’t count the days, Make the days count~
Life can get mundane quickly. You have to make the extra effort to do things different to not get stuck in ruts. You don’t have to go skydiving or anything crazy, but going for a hike or enjoying new food are great ways to change up your day. Have a positive mindset going into each day and make them count!
~Keep the people that feel like sunshine close~
When you’re just living life you might not notice the people that help you be the best version of yourself. When you stop to think of people in your life, who radiates sunshine? Who is thoughtful, patient, kind and loving? Those are the people you want to keep in your life.💛
~Life begins at the end of your comfort zone~
Change is uncomfortable. Your mind and body fear the unknown because it wants to protect you. Whether you’re afraid to start your fitness journey, change jobs, or move to a new location, it can be scary. When you accept living in some discomfort, you’ll be able to truly live and embrace growth and change.
~Focus on what you can control~
You probably spend a lot of your time worrying about things. (I totally do) You have appointments to make, work to get done, and a social life to keep up.
Tasks pile up and can leave you feeling overwhelmed. Take a moment to step back and think about all the things that you can control.
You can control how you react to situations, how to speak to people, and how well you complete work. Don’t get caught up in all the things you have no control over because worrying doesn’t provide you any more control.
~If you weren’t ready you wouldn’t have the opportunity~
You might feel like you’re in over your head at times, but it probably means you’re in the right place. There are opportunities that you receive and it’s up to you to decide whether you shine or break under the pressure.
If you have good things going on in your life don’t chalk it up to only luck. You worked hard to be where you are and the opportunity wouldn’t be available if you weren’t ready to take it on.
~Try to be a Rainbow in Someone’s Cloud~
Everyone has upsand downsthroughout their life. You have the ability to make someone’s day better or worse by the little actions you choose everyday.
Whether you care for someone who’s sick or hold a door open for someone. These actions all add up to make a person’s day better.
Choose to be the positive light in someone’s life and turn their day, or even week around!
~When a Flower Doesn’t Bloom, you Fix the Environment it Grows in, Not the Flower~
Think of what it takes a flower to grow. It requires soil, water, sun, and attention. You can’t plant a flower anywhere, leave it alone, and expect it to grow.
Think of yourself as a flower. If you’re trying to grow where there’s no sun or water, then you will struggle or fail to grow.
Sometimes you need to change your environment to grow. If you’re in a bad mental space, then you might need to change your surroundings or habits. Give yourself the love and attention you need to grow!
~Find Joy in the Journey~
We are all on individual journeys, each with different goals in mind. Your journey could be towards fitness, while another person’s is towards their career.
When setting out to reach a goal, it takes timeand consistent effort to reach it. We often get so wrapped up in the end goal that we forget to appreciate every stepalong the way.
Celebrate milestones, give yourself credit for all the hard work you put in, and find joy in the journey!
~You Gotta Nourish In Order to Flourish~
The quality✨of food we consume is often overlooked. It’s easy to get the most convenient option, especially with fast food🍟around every corner.
We’ve all heard that healthy food is good for us – but what even constitutes “healthy food”? I think food shouldn’t have labels🏷️because one thing isn’t “healthy” while another is “unhealthy”. It’s about the balance⚖️you have between different types of food.
Nourish your body with whole foods🥑80% of the time and allow your body to enjoy less nutritional foods🍔20% of the time. Giving your body nutritionally dense foods helps all your bodily functions🫀run better and you will feel better as a direct result!😁
~Everything Comes in Waves~
Life does not have a linear growth plan. Things are thrown at us that we have to deal with, but we push through.
Happiness is a wave. Sadness is a wave. Our emotions will not stay constant throughout our lives because there are so many changing variables to factor in.
When you have good days, take advantage of riding that high wave. When you have bad days, take time for yourself and realize that a low wave doesn’t last forever.
Your life is like the ocean – it has highs and lows, it’s constantly changing, and it’s beautiful.
~Don’t Stress Over Things you Cannot Control~
Write downeverything that weighs on your heartor is a source of anxiety for you. Skim through the listand cross off things that you cannot control. This might include the weatheror the actions of other people. When you have a list of things that you can control, start to form a planthat will help you lessenyour anxiety towards it.
If you spend your life stressing over things you can’t control, you’ll feel like everything is out of your control. You can control the words you speak, the actions your take, and the way you respond to situations and other people.
Stress is inevitable, but can be helped if taken on by a logical approach. Find the things you can control in your own life and you will learn to decrease your stress when life throws you curveballs.
~Don’t Trade your Authenticity for Approval~
Do you ever catch yourself tweaking your personality, looks, or overall self for anybody? It’s easy to do if you hangout with someone or a group of people for a long period of time.
There’s nothing wrong with growth or change if you genuinely enjoy it, but the problem happens when you change only for the approval of others.
Being your most authentic self is when you attract the right people in your life. There are billions of people on earth, which means that if you’re not with your “people” right now, then they’re out there.
If you’re in a situation at schoolor work, where you feel like it’s impossible to not being around certain people, this can be really hard. All you can do is be yourself and proud to show that off!
~Discipline will get you Farther than Motivation ever will~
Discipline is different than motivation because you show up for things even when you don’t want to.Motivation relies on a sparkof energy or a driving force to get you to do a task.
If you have a plan to workout 4 times a week, then you have to show up for yourself 4 times a week. If you rely on motivation, then you might wake up one morning and say “I’m not feeling it today”and not show up.
When you get in the habit of showing up for yourself, your mind gets used to that specific activity. You’ll eventually go on autopilot because you’re used to a specific routine. This will lead you to keep showing up and start truly enjoying the journeybecause of all the positive benefits.
~Food is Fuel~
I think food tastes best after a hike, long day at the beach, or day on the lake. This picture was from an 11 mile hike in Montana with 3000 ft elevation. This sandwichgave me the stamina to get through the strenuous hike.
Sometimes we forget that food is fuel for our bodies. We aren’t just eating for flavor, but for nutrientsthat help our bodies do amazing things everyday.
~Give yourself Credit for How Far you’ve Come~
Not giving myself credit for things that I’ve worked for seems to be my specialty. I am a harsh self-critic, which can help push me to get better, but it also means that I struggle to see how much good I’ve done.
If this resonates with you, please stop for a moment today and think about where you are now compared to a year ago, 5 years ago, and 10 years ago. When you stop to look back on life, you realize how much you’ve accomplished professionally, mentally, or physically.
Don’t stop improving your skills and knowledge, but also take time to appreciate how far you’ve come. It will help you live with a grateful heart and see the beauty in all the things you bring to the world.
~Get up Get Busy~
Life will get in the way of your goals. There’s no way around it because there is never a “perfect timeto start” something.
Most of the time you have to choose what you most want in life and work for it. Nothing great ever comes easy.
If you have a specific goal in mind you truly just have to work for it. Even if everyday feels like helland you don’t see progress for a long time, keep showing up. Show up to reach your goals and work through the obstacles that life throws at you!
~Be Scared and Do it Anyways~
Life is full of scary thingssuch as visiting a new place, meeting new people, or trying out a new activity.
New experiences send your brain into fight or flight mode because you don’t have past knowledge or experience of what you’re getting into. This makes new things scary, but new experiences help you growas a person.
Whether you’re just starting your fitness journey, or you’re already years down the road, you should always try new things that make you feel uncomfortableat first. This can include working out in a packed gym, raising the weight that you usually lift, or trying out a new machine at the gym.
Challenging yourself allows your mind to get past mental blocks that could be limiting your potential. Don’t be afraid to fail because that just means you’re growing!
~It’s the Little Things that Matter Most~
A good meal, a compliment from a stranger, a good conversation, and a cup of coffee. All these things are small, but bring us joy.
People usually look forward to the big wins in life. This is good to strive for, but don’t forget about the little things that bring you joy along the way.
When you are grateful for the little things, you start to realize that the big wins come around sooner. A watched pot never boils.Don’t take the little things in life for granted.
~Find Time for Yourself~
It’s easy to keep your life busy and surround yourself with people all the time, but sometimes you need to check back in with yourself.
Taking time each day to be with yourself can help you think clearly. When you have time to think without distractions, you are more likely to find out new things about yourself and what your mind and body need for that specific day.
If you feel anxious or stressed, the answer could be to find time to be with yourself. Even if you only have 5 minutes to be with yourself, it’s worth it for mental clarity you’ll have for the rest of your day.
Be selfish and be alone when your mind needs it.
~The More Grateful I Am, The More Beauty I See~
Gratitude
Something we so often forget about in daily life. We run around doing daily tasks and minor inconveniences can ruin our day.
If you choose to see the bad, you’ll notice the bad things happening in your life. If you choose to see the good, you’ll notice all the beauty in your life.
If you live with a grateful heart, you will keep having things to be grateful for!
~Don’t Compare your Journey to Others. We’re All Walking our own Unique Path~
Comparison is the theft of joy. It’s so easy to scroll through social media and be jealous of what others have. This kind of comparison happens almost everyday, maybe without you even knowing!
The thing people often forget – you are a unique individual! This means that everybody else’s life will be different than yours because nobody is an exact copy of you!
When you realize that your fitness, career, family, and life journey are all unique, that’s when you’re able to better see all the blessings in your life. You’re walking a different path than everyone, so don’t compare your path to anyone else’s.
~Slow Down, Take a Breath, Take it All In~
Slowing down life is easier said than done. Life gets so overwhelming that we often forget to stop and realize all the things we have to be grateful for.
I’m constantly trying to get to the next step in life or level up in some aspect of my life. This is a good quality because it allows me to push myself in life, but it also can be a bad quality at times because I never stop to see all the beauty of life right now.
I recently went on a weekend vacation with my family and I was reminded of this. I left my computer at home and put my phone on do not disturb. I allowed myself to enjoy a wonderful weekend and see all the beauty of right now. So if you can today, Slow down, Take a breath, and Take it all in
