¡Hola amigos! On día 36 I went to the gym then met up with my friend who was visiting from Madrid. We went to Citizen Cafe for brunch and met up with more of her friends. After brunch we walked around La Ramblas, which is a main strip people can walk down to see vendors and restaurants. It’s also a main tourist spot so I made sure to warn everyone to look after their phones and wallets extra close because people look to steal them.
We walked down to the water at the end of La Ramblas and did some window shopping after. When we got tired of walking we stopped for a pastry and Cappucino at El Fornet. We walked back to her friends apartment and started getting ready for the night.
Once we were ready we ran across the street to get some empanadas. We found a bench and did some people watching as we ate.
We walked to Kahiki, which is a tiki themed bar. Our drinks all came out smoking or on fire. We went to Shôko after, which is a main club located on the beach. We met up with some more friends and 2 of them were studying in Switzerland but originally from France. They tried talking to me in French and I had to explain that I had no clue what they were saying. We had a great time, but Barcelona never sleeps and eventually we went home because we needed sleep.
On día 37 two of my friends met at my house and we walked to Habiko for sushi. When we finished we walked to the Museu Nacional D’Art De Catalunya. The view was breathtaking and there was someone playing the violin right out front so we got to stand there and enjoy it for a bit.
We got in for free because on certain days you can get in museums free of charge if you keep an eye out. We walked through 3 different exhibits and it took us 2 hours and we didn’t even make a dent on the museum. It was huge so I guess I’ll just have to go back to see more.
We were so exhausted from walking around and being art critics so we stopped at a restaurant called Waffle and got crepes and juice. After our break we hopped on a bus home for a siesta.
We met back up later and went to El Racó, which was a Mediterranean restaurant. We all got flatbread pizzas and shared hummus and sangria. After we were full we went back to our friends apartment again to hang out before we went out.
Once we decided to go out we got on the metro and as we were switching metros my friend couldn’t find her phone. We realized that it was stolen and tried calling the police, but it’s so common and hard to track that there’s really nothing they can do. We stopped at a convenience store on our way home, got some snacks, and went back to the apartment. I felt so bad for her, but in Barcelona it’s so common for people to get their phone stolen that if you aren’t alert then you are the next target. She went all the way back to Madrid the next morning with no phone and contacted me to say she still had such a fun time. Overall still a great weekend!
