Mallorca, Spain – Días 97-100

¡Hola amigos! On día 97 I went to the airport to fly to Mallorca, Spain with my friend. There were so many issues with the plane and staff that we sat in the airport for 6 hours waiting to board. It was a night flight because it was after our classes on Thursday, so we were supposed to arrive late anyways, but we arrived around 2 am to the Airbnb. There were 6 other people at the Airbnb who arrived earlier, so when we arrived everyone was asleep except for the one person who let us in. We went right to sleep when we got in so we could be ready for the next day.

On día 98 we woke up around 10 am and got ready for the beach. We walked about 10 minutes to a beautiful beach with clear water. We set up camp and hung out there for a few hours. I made the grave mistake of forgetting to put on sunscreen the first hour we were there. The sun didn’t feel really hot, but I found out firsthand that the UV rays are much stronger in Spain. Thank God I put 50+ SPF on my face, but when we left for lunch everyone let me know how burnt I was. We ate at a cute restaurant we found in town and the food was fresh and delicious. At lunch I told everyone there was a pizza oven in the Airbnb backyard and half of us quickly got attached to the idea of making our own woodfired pizza. Half of the group had no faith in us, but I was up for a fun activity.

Some of the group walked to a nearby pizza place and we asked if we could buy some ingredients to make pizza dough. The lady was so kind and gave us yeast for free and told us how to make it properly. We went home and started on our pizza dough and had to let it sit for 90 minutes or more. The rest of the day we enjoyed the villa pool that was at our Airbnb. Eventually we made dinner at the house and realized that we made the dough wrong because it didn’t rise at all. We made the most of it and put it in a pan and baked it in the oven instead. I’m not going to say it was good, but it was edible and a fun activity.

We got ready for the night and went out to a fun bar where we got giant volcano drinks that we shared with long straws for about 5 people each. The bar also had real parrots sitting on perches at the front that would squawk and scare me every couple minutes. We went to an Irish pub after and went home to sleep.

On día 99 we got up and ready for another beach day. We went to an even closer beach this day and enjoyed the beach until lunch. I didn’t make the same mistake as the day before and put plenty of sunscreen on. We went to a kebab shop and all got 5€ kebabs for lunch. I went with one of my friends to find a pool float so she could enjoy the water without being fully in it. The rest of the day we spent by the villa pool again and soaked up the sun.

We showered and got ready for the dinner which we made at the house again. It was nice to have big family meals on the outside patio where everyone helps to make the food. We played some card games until we got ready to go out for our friend’s 21st birthday. We went back to the same Irish pub and enjoyed celebrating their birthday until we came home exhausted.

On día 100 we all went in a big van to the airport, even though my friend and I had later flights but it was cheaper to share a van instead of a taxi. When we got to the airport we tried to change our flight to an earlier option, but they said no. We ate some breakfast and I had the idea to just go to the gate of the earlier flight and see what they would say. We waited until almost everyone checked in and went up and told them our predicament. They were hesitant but I pushed a little more and they let us on the flight. We were so glad and we got home so much earlier.

Mallorca estaba preciosa y quiero ir, ¡pero me aseguraré de ponerme protector solar!
